All they have to do is say, "Fine! We won't give you any oil!" Then what happens? We'll be up a creek without a paddle. An all out war would more than likely bring back the draft as well. The armed forces are seriously hurting for enlistments.

I've gone the entire week (from Sat) on a little over 1/4 tank!

But gas is rediculous!

We have known that the world's supply of oil was going to run low for more than 30 YEARS! We had time to figure something out, but what did we do?? Build SUVs, build huge homes that cost astronomical prices to heat and cool and just *wish* for the situation to get better.

Brazil has had this figured our for more than 10 years. We could have been foreign energy INDEPENDENT a long time ago. And even at $4/gallon, people are still going to drive their asses off!

Like I said in the other post...

That's a bad idea. Them folks in those Middle Eastern countries would make our lives a LIVING HEYELL if we did that. What's more, if we did that, other non-Middle Eastern countries would object (as well they should--we're basically stealing in that example) and we'd be on our own.

Basically, if we tried taking over those countries, the same way it's going down in Iraq with suicide bombers and folks dying is how it would be in other countries. We BARELY have the money or warm bodies to fight the two wars we have going on now, there's no way we could fight more than one.

Also, if we pulled a stunt like that, it's likely they'd just set their oil wells and refineries on fire so we couldn't get any.

Also, they would NOT be concerned with the US not buying any oil. Part of the problem is that the economies in India and China are EXPLODING. People are purchasing cars in record numbers, and we are competing with them for the dwindling oils supply. If we don't want the oil--no skin off of the oil companies/oil producing countries' backs.

The problem is that we are oil whores. We, the worlds most staunch capitalist propaganda machine, now wants to attempt to tamper with the markets because it's losing.

Basic market fundamentals are at work here. We LOVE oil. We NEED oil. We will have to PAY for oil.

Honestly, I think the price of gas is being artificially inflated to spark a frenzy that will get people begging for us to drill in Alaska and the Gulf.

Defend your country
Take over another Country

3. Pay of the National debt by cutting all these BULLCHYT PROGRAMS like "giving artist $25 Million to paint"
4. Goverment just take over the Oil markets and set price ceilings, FVK' the executives....
5. Drill in alaska, Gulf of Mexico.
6. Put up BARBED WIRE ELECTICAL FENCE Over the entire border of Mexico AND a shoot first policy if anybody tries to cross over
7. PRIVATIZE Social Security!



I know this is a little far fetched, and I welcome in rebuttals as to why we shouldn't/can't do this. I'm just Pissed man.....

I agree with this completely. I'm pretty much debt-free--I broke down and put $75 on my credit card (I did it in a VERY weak moment last weekend ) but I'll pay that off when I get paid tomorrow.

I'm all for the Slip and Slide and water hose in the backyard! But I don't see anything wrong with taking a vacation if you save for it. The problem comes when you drop $5k on the Visa in order to have a nice vacation and it takes you 2 years to pay it off.


The key to this game is to buy what you need and save for what you want.
