Soror, I'm really trying to get up there by 2009 I want to go to UNC Charlotte for Public Adminstration concentration in non-profit. I was thinking about transfering to the Beta Omicorn Sigma when I got up there. While researching I found their were two Sigma Gamma Rho Chapters. You getting me all excited.

www.nphcchicago.org/medley.htmWhat was really funny, was at NPHC function last year, the Greek Medley was played for each org...when the medley is played the respective org stands, however one org apparently forget the medley to their own National Hymn, and so they sat in their seats. Now lets keep in mind, that the songs are played in order of founding dates, so it really should not be question. When this org realized their faux pas, they just laughed.

nupey what wrong with universal strolls. I mean it shows well unity. Cause the way things are and the way some greeks act it gives off the impression that we don't like each other. Nupey, Just cause you do a stroll with another frat does not mean he's apart of your frat or that they about to merge. I see it as two frats coming together for the sake of fun nothing more. In that case I don't think we should hold joint programs cause the business of the org is way more important than our chants, strolls, and calls.

When they play the Greek Medley here, the name of the org is announced so that the respective members can stand when their Hymn is being played. *I really hope it wasn't the AKAs who didn't know to stand up*

Ok...I listened to the medley...and I'm gonna be honest. I'm not 100% sure I would have recognized our hymn from that music! LOL! I've never heard our hymn accompanied by instrumental...we just sing the words.

I realize that Southie...lol. I'm just saying that if I heard the music on its own without any context, that might not have been enough for me to recognize that it was our Hymn.

We can do events with other greeks, but not "universal strolls", just another thing "New school" greeks came up with.

What years are you considering "New School"? In the 1990's that was very common...so if you consider that decade new school, then you have a good point.

Now in terms of doing Kane taps with other orgs...I.e Universal strolling, etc, that was not invented in 1990, which means that was something that was occuring for several years prior...whether you want to participate in a Universal step that's on you. I think the uniformity was closer back then versus now. To see it done, is not out of the ordinary or a big deal...its up to the individual. So continue to shake your head.

Well, I'll just speak for the Kappas in my area, we generally avoid Unity steps...The only Unity We need to show is attending NPHC Meetings (mandated by nationals) and a few strolloffs, stepshows or Joint Parties, other than that...yall can have that....lol

So, Brotherhood being and ends with your frat. Its seems like in order to do joint events with other orgs it has to be forced. So why be apart of NPHC at all? And once again isn't the business of Kappa more important than you sign, chants, and scroll? I mean if I weren't going to be participating in unity anything it would be joint business events rather than social events. 1990 is still Old School...now after MIP was in place, you got a point. I mean seriously? When and where did you cross? We aren't talking about brotherhood at all. No one but YOU brought up that subject. All I said, is that Nupes in my area PREFER NOT to participate in Universial Strolls or steps. Who is that HURTING? NO ONE. I did However go on to say that we DO participate in Joint Events and service projects.
To me, doing joint "handsigns", strolls, and steps just seems to take away from the Greatness of my Org. Its like another org is trying to Gleen off our shine.
