Is anyone here going to the Atlana Greek Picnic in June at Morris Brown? Better yet, has any one attended one in recent years?
If so, what is that atmosphere like? Is it anything like the Greek Picnics up in Philly and New York? Because the city of Philly basically shuts down during Greek weekend. Any one thats been to one can easily attest that it's well over 100,000 people in attendence that weekend.
Is it mainly Greeks that come out or do you actually have a lot of non greeks in attendance as well?
I ask because my chapters Neo's and some of their sands are making arrangement to roadtrip down to ATL for this. They asked me how the ATL Greek Picnic is but im not sure as Ive never been. Of course they are trying to coax some of us older Bro's into going down with them...but little do they know that Ice is retired from the road trip/greek picnic business. Anyway, let me know.....Thanks...

I went last year and it was a lot of fun. Tell them to pack their own water and cooler. If they want to go to the clubs tell them to get there super early because lines were thick at like 10. I am used to not getting to the club till like 12:30.

i've gone the past two years. It's HOT out there. That's pretty much all you need to know. It's actually a lot of fun. There hasn't been any niggerdom (to my knowledge at least). Everyone seems to have a great time. good, clean fun.
there was a big fuss about not allowing non-greeks, but it's a park, and they weren't checking membership cards or anything.
I think it would be a great experience for the neos. I had fun my first year.
@ Tillions...i spent a lot of time at the SG Rho plot last year.

Kouture will be there in all her neo glory! I can't give you a comparison between the picnics up north, but I can tell you a lil bit about the ATL picnic. They said that it's only for D9 greeks (no aux or GDI's allowed) but that must not have been strictly inforced because I went out there for a lil while last year LOL! The majority of the Greeks congregate near their plots and walk around and mingle. There was a pretty big crowd out there (but it was hot as HAYLE so be prepared). It's not just for undergrads either. I think you all will enjoy it, though.

I don't agree about Philly Greek. It's VERY calm these days Say Word? I havent been in quite some time but for a while there it just started gettting really, really overcrowded. Each year, the fights got worse and worse and the last year I went (I think it was 2000-2001), there was an actual shootout right in the middle of south street in broad daylight when the street was packed....I was literally 15 feet away..CRAZY But you may be right..hopefully it has calmed down. I hear Mayor Nutter in Philly is going to flood Fairmount park with police this year during the picnic

I've been every year since about 05 and it's nothing like that anymore...its in some secluded part of Fairmount Park, fitdy million miles from the Mann Center. It was literally like 1 grad chapter and 1 UG chapter of each org. Popo on motorcycles lining the entire path up to the pavillion
It's a good, clean, family time. Not even the Ques were nekkid.

some friends and I went out for barbecue before we headed to Mo B. I know that probably sounds weird, but, ironically, food is hard to come by at the picnic. and Tillions, i'll come over there again. do somethin
