Buy some lotion from her or enough to make a gift basket.....
Or tell her that you only use XYZ brand of product and other special products. But buy some lotion just because.
Whatever you do, if you don't buy anything else, buy some lotion....you know black folks be ashy! LOL!

One time I said that just as I was walking into B&BW, lol ROFL! I hate those people who stop you to demonstrate those overpriced nail-buffer thingies. Their set is $40, but you can get one in Sally's for like $2.

You should sample the product. I used to sell Mary Kay, now I am just a personal use consultant. The Miracle Set is da bomb!! When I use it consistently, I can tell the difference in my skin. We also have the mineral foundation now. Just give her a chance, allow her to do the facial, you may be surprised.

i agree, say you're allergic That ain't enough to stop some folks: Not too long ago I had this lady (not greek) go on a tangent about the fact that Mary Kay is just perfect for people with allergies because it's the only thing that won't aggravate them. Um . . how does she know? And is she going to be personally responsible for my face blowing up like a big' ol scrawberry if it does?

I used to sell Mary Kay. Now, I have one person that I do the majority of my shopping with and several others that I support from time to time. I have an understanding with the others that I will buy something when I can and have found that none of them are pushy about it. Of course, I don't know the lady that has contacted you and she might be completely different.
I would encourage you to at least try it, if you haven't already. There really is no obligation and if you don't like it, you can truthfully say so. Regardless of what you decide, let her know up front what your intentions are and, if your experience is what mine has been, she will respect that.

Um . . how does she know? And is she going to be personally responsible for my face blowing up like a big' ol scrawberry if it does? She's brave. I would never, during my time as a consultant, encourage someone who has allergies to try Mary Kay, if they felt they shouldn't because of them. I think Mary Kay is an excellent product line, but, like anything else, is not for everybody.

d-d-d-did you say MINERAL FOUNDATION?!! Mary Kay? Let ME find out Mary Kay really is a good product. I can say that as a former consultant, I don't try to sell it to anyone anymore. I only order enough to stay active and get my discount. They also have a microdermabrasion set that makes your skin feel great. My 13 year old uses the Velocity cleanser and moisturizer and her skin looks great too. The best way to deal with consultants, especially a friend or family member, is to allow them to give you the facial, or at least hold a class---just invite 2 or 3 more people, let them do their thing. Buy what you like and then let them know that you don't want to hold anymore classes and you are not interested in the opportunity. Most will respect that and leave you alone, and will be happy to have you as a customer. Before you completely shut yourself off from Mary Kay, go on their website and see some of the looks they have put together. Their eye colors, etc are just as nice as Mac or some of the department store stuff, but the focus is on skin care. But if you want to go further with your makeup, each quarter they put together 4 new looks, you can buy the colors and it comes with instructions on how to apply it so you learn to do it yourself. Again, I am a FORMER consultant, but a very happy customer.

I am a former consultant too. If you decide to do the class, but don't want to be hound afterwards, you just have to tell her that you are not interested.

After sitting through one of those "let me do a makeover on you and then try to get you to sell this stuff and then get an attitude when you say no" sessions I have a low tolerance for any pyramid scheme type thing, lol. I won't even go to the pamper parties because I know I'm not going tobuy anything so I end up feeling bad and I don't want them calling me later on.
I got so pissed when my soror gave my number out to this lady when I told her I don't wear Mary Kay and wasn't coming to the party. But I have a problem with people giving out my number without asking me first anyway....

She said she needed 30 "Before and After" models. But when we met at an event my chapter hosted, I was not under the impression she wanted to sell me Mary Kay. In fact, she took my information saying that she would e-mail me some pictures she took that evening. Them Mary Kay people *WILL* stalk you. I hate pyramid-scheme stuff, too. Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Partylite, Jaffra, Amway, etc. The only one I don't really mind is Avon, because they generally aren't pushy.

I am not nearly aggressive enough. I do think you should support your friend/soror/family member if they decide to do it. Just tell them you will let them do the makeover. If you like the product, buy it and keep buying it. But let them know that if they become stalkerish, you will find a new consultant. Most consultants have websites so you can go online and place reorders without even talking to them. Trust me, they will appreciate a good, regular customer and will not jeopardize that by being too pushy. The product really is great.

In my experience as a consultant, I knew who I could consider "regular" customers, who would buy something every now and then if I asked, and who was just not interested. Once a person said they were not interested, I was done trying to promote the product. I really didn't even have to contact regular customers, because they were already sold. I guess a consultant's approach depends on what they are trying to accomplish by becoming involved. A person who is trying to make a career of it, drive the promotional cars, and become team leaders/directors might tend to be a little more pushy. I was happy with my status as a regular old part-time consultant and was not seeking anything bigger. I was not aggressive at all and eventually gave it up completely.

To the former consultants on the board. Did you ever feel like your Director was pushing you to sell more product or recruit more people? I certainly did. I was happy being a part time consultant, but I eventually gave it up because I got tired of the pressure from my director.

I was happy being a part time consultant, but I eventually gave it up because I got tired of the pressure from my director. Yes, that is why I quit going to meetings and everything. One thing I found is that they push you to hurry up and recruit a lot of people and get them active so you can get in your red jacket or get your car. But if you don't have a solid team built, you end up losing it anyway. I was buying all that product trying to win those foolish prizes and stuff and that stuff just sat on my shelf. Now I am unapologetically a personal use consultant. I may order twice a year. My husband likes the mens face soap, my daughter likes the Velocity cleanser and I like the miracle set and the new mineral stuff.

Oh, I forgot about my friend who tried to recruit me...she invited me to this informational luncheon thingy. They had everyone stand and introduce themselves. When I stood, they put me on the spot and asked me point-blank: "Do you think you'd be interested in selling Mary Kay?" WTF? I told them I was just there to hear more information. The friend that brought me finally got frustrated and ended up quitting herself! A woman at my church lost her red Grand-Am. I didn't even know that was possible. See, those are the things they don't tell you at the seminars and whatnot!
