I still believe that Fidel has been on his deathbed or actually dead for sometime now. Call me crazy.

Fidel made a statement several years ago that he would not hold on to power. Now...take this as you will with him being 90 years old and all..but I think this is him attempting to protect his legacy. He figures that if he gives up power, willfully, it will look better for him in the annals of history.
Raul is not much different (he's in his 70's) Although, he has proven to be a bit more open to outside ideas and normalized relationship with the US. In all fairness, I don't believe Castro was opposed to a relationship with the US. This has all be one sided.
In my limited knowledge of the situation, here are my thoughts on the situation:
1. Many Cubans not only want Castro gone, they want the land tha was taken from them to be returned. The U.S. cannot participate in this. For years, we supported a brutal Batista regime that subjegated the demos of Cuban society and relegated them to de facto slavery. We need someone(s) in office that are not moved by the "Miami Exiles".
2. I'm afriad Cuba will look like Jamaica or the Bahamas. Allow foreign investment with ownership and the large companies will eventually own the best coastal land and invest very little in the infrastructure and economic well being of the people. Look at any economy based in tourism. From New Orleans to Jamaica. You have an extreme gap between the haves and have nots.
3. Cuba has a relativly educated and healthy population This is (or should) be a catalyst for middle to higher income businesses like call centers and light textile manufacturing. To keep from destroying the ecological integrity of the island, they should not allow factories that pollute nor should they enter into any agreements that use the island for energy refining (oil and gas or ethanol)

I still believe that Fidel has been on his deathbed or actually dead for sometime now. Call me crazy. OK. " You're crazy." ;D lol SERIOUSLY: The thing that gets ME hot is that "son of a BUSH" in the WHITE HOUSE had the audacity to make a statement about "assuring a Free & FAIR election-process in CUBA; ... not the staged events that Fidel and brother Raul have perpetuated." Uhm, ... correct me if I am wrong, but didn't BUSH become US PRESIDENT due to CROOKED politics ??
