I don't drink in my letters and if I choose to smoke, I wouldn't do that either. I say don't do anything in your letters that is negative. Not only does it reflect you, but it also will reflect upon your organization.

This is foolish to me. If you are of legal age to purchase/drink alcohol, then why does it matter if you have a letters or not? We can all agree that those letters are NOT the bible, so what differnce does it make? If you drink with out letters you are STILL a delta, kappa...etc...So I'm not getting it.Like I said, I guess it's about upholding an image. That's just protocol for us. Everybody doesn't have to be like us though, that's for sure. *gives negro nod to Crimson*

I've been wondering this for a while, but I've been loathe to say anything...but since we're talking about "image"...what are your thoughts on the man in a certain org that will remain nameless, wearing a Crown Royal bag at a party as attire--and nothing else? I guess that is why they are called those "Nasty, Nasty..." Was this a Toga Party?

Nope. The picture was weird, because it looked like a community center or something. Dude's dang-a-lang was stuffed into a Crown Royal bag, and he was just standing there drinking. I'll try and post it here when I get home.

What is the purpose of wearing letters/nalia to church? I saw a pastor once change the color the usher board wore to church and the background color of the church website after he crossed over for Omega. He even threw up the hook during his sermon and thanked God for seeing him through it. I know I know here come Water...

I think there is a such thing as Greek responsibility. And somewhere between the abolotition of above ground pledging and underground hazing we lost what it meant to be collectve Greeks as pillars in the community.

ROFL! And a Que at church yelled out when our pastor (an Alpha) was getting ready to bless the food at the church picnic, "God ain't gonna hear your prayer with that hat on your head!" (He had on an Alpha hat). This is the same Que that once threw up the hooks from the choir stand. ;D

What is the purpose of wearing letters/nalia to church? I had been a Delta for over two years by the time he crossed and I couldn't understand it for the life of me. He was definitely one of those who let his letters make him. He was VERY extreme IMO Mocha, all this time I thought you were a GDI.

I don't think you should act in anyway that is not considered socially acceptable while wearing your letters. That doesn't mean you have sit like child in church being scolded by his/her parents, but don't do anything in your letters that you wouldn't do in the presence of your family. In otherwords...don't behave in a way that would bring riducle and disrespect to your organization. Remember, when the public sees this, all they will say is "look at that Alpha actin' a fool." In other words...SHOW YOUR CLASS, NOT YO' ASS!!! Even if you take off your letters, your still an Alpha. To some you may be another foolish unruly black person, but to a few your robelite the Alpha, even if you don't have no para on. I agree, but the subject of the thread is how one should act WHILE WEARING his/her letters. As far as wearing "nalia" to church, I've often worn a lapel pin on my suit. On the few occasions when I may wear a suit to work, I've sometimes worn an Alpha lapel pin then. If nothing else, it draws curiosity from some of these NASA folks who don't know anything about BGLOs.

The church pews, the carpet, all that jazz is purple. The programs are purple and gold. My church has 3 locations, and the newest one, the women's bathroom is red, lol! I've never seen my pastor throw hooks during a sermon, but he is a proud Que. Matter of fact, alot of the people at my church, even those in leadership positions, are greek.
