All I can say is that dude is dynamite. Man he is making some excellent points about race and politics. I wish we could get him to post here for a day.

He seems more like a teacher - I doubt he'd disown us... he'd sit us up in a classroom and make us take notes.

He seems more like a teacher - I doubt he'd disown us... he'd sit us up in a classroom and make us take notes. Well Damie he has taught at Princeton and Harvard so that would make him a teacher (professor). But Is it the way he drops knowledge that so engaging or is it his dialog that makes him such a fascinating figure. I don't think he would MAKE us take notes. His overall spirit and intellectual demeanor would instantly demand anyone to grab a feather and some ink, he wouldn't have to say a word.

Dude was just mad knowledgeable. The commentator would just throw out a question and each answer seemed like it was a well thought out well polished lecture with salient points all through out.

I met Dr. West here in Little Rock. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a picture with him.
He's a very dynamic brother and I have most of his books. If you are interested in Dr. West, pick up his Reader. It's a good one.

I have all his books as well, though I have yet to finish all of them........kids *shrugs*

LOL!! Same here. I read them in sections. Then after putting them down for a while, i'll have to go back and read the first part just to get my mind back in shape to read his writings!
Oh well....good reading none the less.

Randall Robinson is another good one (I don't know how he is as a speaker but he has written some excellent books - especially the one where he disects Bill Clinton's presidency which was actually hard for me to accept at first because I was a Bill Clinton fan - and even though I still feel like he did more than any Republican ever did for Black people - the truth laid bare was that he also did alot to hurt black people)

I agree...I read "The Debt" and that was excellent....My wife just bought "Quitting America". She thought it was good, but it sounds as though Robinson is going the intellectual way of Du'Bois as somewhat of a recluse....Nonetheless, we owe him a debt of gratitude for the work of Trans-Africa, et al....

I was listening to Dr. West's interview with Roland Martin today. I'll find that link and post it here for everyone. Bro. West has ALWAYS been a dynamic speaker and intellect.
Even with all that he has on the ball professionally, he's always been able to relate to the regular people.....he "can walk with kings, and not lose the common touch."

Dr. West was on the Michael Baisden show this evening. He was talking about all the stuff that went on during the Clinton administration that people don't talk about, NAFTA, Rowanda, mandatory prison sentences, etc.

Des, go tell this broke-azz negro to go get some damn cable... Don't you have some stale Samuel Adams to be guzzling Super Sr. Vice President of Jack Assery?Let's get something straight here.... 1. There's nothing stale about Sam Adams...if you drank something other than Omega Oil and Bud Light, you would understand this. 2. I am NOT Super Sr. Vice-President of Jack-Assery.... ...I am Super Senior VP of Jack-Assery....and Sales Operations. Puhleeeeease get this correct the next time.
