I've been playing spades for over 20 years and last night my buddy tries to tell me that i have to throw my hand back if i have no spades.I am under the impression that it was up to my discretion to do so . Am i wrong???

I mean, it's advisable to throw your hand in if you don't have a "stick", you're allowed to, but unless your partner had a monster hand (I'm talking first 4 highest spades, 8 spades total, and one run suit) I would basically throw that hand in. If he's talking about I got 4 and a possible and you have no spades, between the two of you... you do NOT have 4 and a possible LOL
