All you wanted to do is bring great drunken nights that can hardly be remembered the day after to people who have worked hard all week. You are the perfect mix of spirits and caffeine the best of both worlds. You make the old feel young and the young feel adolecent. You have been the start of numerous block parties and drop it like its hot contest. Even though you smell like 'tussin, vavoline 20w-50, unwanted babies, regrets, and the Boston Celtics' Big Baby's slob, you brought joy to many people that I know. Why? because we never abused you by .... drinking a whole can. Just a little taste of you is all that is needed to get the party started. But what do some people do. They drink you all up. They drink mulitiples of your sweet potent wine-o nectar. They drop dead and now we ALL must suffer.  They say to consider taking the caffeine jolt out.. but are they serious? That's like taking the 3-point skills away from Kobe, thats like taking the moon walk away from Mike, that's like taking a slim fitted clothes from the Dream (well actually thats needed), That's like taking a the bigots out of the Tea party, that's like giving a vasectomy to Lil Wayne, thats like taking the "fido" out of chinese food. It just would be missing that "hmpf". Without your special kick you are nothing but Mad Dog 20/22 and that's too much on real life. Young Professionals need your trendy aspects to be able to live under the guise that they are not drinking bum juice. I shall fight for you oh sweet beverage. I shall be holding 4Loko Freedom Rallies across the southeast. If that doesn't work, I will be going on a gas station tour to stock up for New Years.  Signed, A sad brown man |

Four energy drink is available in eight flavors: Grape, Fruit Punch, Orange Blend, Watermelon, Blue Raspberry, Lemon Lime, Lemonade, and Cranberry Lemonade. The name "Four" is derived from its four main ingredients: alcohol, caffeine, taurine, and guarana. It also contains carbonated water, sugar, and natural and artificial flavoring.
In 2008, Phusion Projects began selling their products in Europe. The European version of Four MaXed is sold in 8.3–oz. (250mL) glass bottles and is spirit-based; the United States version has a malt liquor base.
In its US market, Phusion Projects added a 23.5oz (695ml) beverage named Four Loko to its Four product line subsequent to the launch of Four Maxed. Four Loko contains 12.0% ABV. It is available in nine flavors: the three original flavors (fruit punch, orange blend and grape), plus watermelon, blue raspberry, kiwi strawberry, lemonade, cranberry lemonade and lemon lime. Watermelon Four Loko also contains FD&C Red #40.[4] In 2009, Four Loko ranked fourth in sales growth among alcoholic beverages at 7-Eleven stores nationwide. A can of Four costs approximately $2.50, but can cost as little as $1.99 in some areas.[4]

Several years ago, several US state attorneys general began active investigations of companies which produced and sold caffeinated alcohol beverages, on the grounds that they might be engaging in misleading marketing.[5] The attorneys general were also concerned that these drinks could pose health risks by masking feelings of intoxication.[6] Consequently, in December 2008, Anheuser-Busch, manufacturer of Tilt and Bud Extra, plus MillerCoors, manufacturer of Sparks agreed to reformulate their drinks.[1]
In 2009, smaller companies, such as Phusion fell under investigation because of their rise in market share.[1] On November 13, 2009, the US Food and Drug Administration warned Phusion and over two dozen other brewers and distillers whose drinks contained the “intentional addition of caffeine” that it was looking into the safety and legality of their beverages,[7] These companies may be forced to discontinue products such as Four, unless they can prove that the addition of caffeine to alcohol is “generally recognized as safe.”[4]
The drink has come under major fire as colleges and universities across the nation have begun to see injuries and blackouts due to the drink's use. The University of Rhode Island banned this product from their campus on November 5, 2010.[8] The state of Washington banned Four Loko after nine university students aged 17 to 19 from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA became ill at a house party in Roslyn, WA. The university students were hospitalized and one university student, with a blood alcohol level of .35, almost died.
Several sites have cropped up to describe the effects people have encountered when drinking Four Lokos, the most notable being The Loko List>.
Phusion has responded to these events by posting responsible drinking tips to their website. In addition to providing tips to their consumers, it also provides information to retailers outlining the safe distribution of their product.[9]

FourLoko makers plan to remove caffeine
The maker of the popular caffeinated alcohol drink FourLoko says it will be taking the caffeine out of its beverages, preempting an expected move by the FDA to ban drinks that blend alcohol and caffeine. Stacey Vanek-Smith has more.

no seriously, I wrote about the dangers of mixing drinks with Red Bull in bartending school back in '04. Katt Williams even tried to told ya'll in Pimp Chronicles. Anything that is packaged in a non-resealable container but is near-lethal consumed in its entirety needs to be banned. Immediately.

Also I think Blacks and Latinos have a Loko tolerance.... It started gaining popularity in the hood in 09 and there were no deaths until these white folks started drinking it

Ok so when I was on huffpost, when this guy was binge drinking 4 4Lokos back to back, I didn't see why that mattered. Having had it put in perspective I know I understand. I didnt know he was drinking the death drink.
