Indulge me people. I mean... I was talking with one of my boys on the phone and he seemed as dumbfounded as I was about the seeming indecision on Obama. If you've seen or heard the man speak, if you've seen him intelligently field questions and articulate ideas, if you're watched him operate at all, and compared him to others...
...I'm trying to understand how Obama is NOT a no-brainer decision. I want you to know I am sincerely interested in hearing what some of the thoughts are, but I will almost certainly offer counterpoints (at some point) to the arguments so I can understand where my perspective is diverging from others. Cause right now I just don't get it (and I'd like to).

If he would stop "fighting" with Hillary, I would take him more seriously. I need to see more from him.

I don't understand why people are singling out Obama and saying "I need to see more from HIM." What have you seen from the other candidates? LOL. He hasn't shown any less than Edwards or Clinton.

(cough Primo is a Hillary lover cough) LMAO
Personally, I don't understand why people feel like Obama HAS to be on anyone's radar equally or more than any other candidate. I personally like Edwards " who let the dogs out" but you don't see me questions folks about why he is barely mentioned half the time. LOL
P.S Cold I just exalted you.

Msurbana, it was Mitt Romney (Rep.) who did the "who let the dogs out" song. Second, I'm not a "Hillary lover", but I am leaning toward her side based on experience. I need to see more from her and Edwards also. It'll all come clear in the next couple months and I'll make a concrete decision then. I just worry about a brotha's health...I don't know if a black man with the middle name of Hussein is even going to stay out of harm's way until Super Tuesday...LOL
Seriously, I can't vote for a black man JUST because he's black. I can love him for running and respect him, but I have to agree with his values, vision and see that he's about something. I want a candidate that I can see will truly make an impact....that could be him, just not sure.

Damie...Haven't done sufficient research on this topic yet, but one of the main reasons I see not to vote for Obama is...Race.
Here are the givens:
It has been said by a lot of people in the media, in our homes, and on this board alike that we don't want to and will not vote for him based solely upon race.
This would undoubtedly be an accomplishment of historic proportions and there must be a first time for everything to pave the way for future elected officials.
However, with those things being said. It is highly likely that Obama's first term in entirety will be based upon race. Commentary and judgments will be made about race. Because of that, his term may be quite unsuccessful and unproductive, because he's always fielding questions, second guessed and tested because of race, which could negatively affect the viability of future candidates of color.
Right now...I don't see a lot of reasons to vote against him, but a big IF for me is, with the state of the economy and everything else going on in the country, could the country move past this "accomplishment" to allow the man to do his job?

Could you elaborate on that experience that you say has yo leaning towards Hillary? Sure...Hillary has had MAJOR time in the spotlight, in the White House, dealing with delegates, dealing with media types and has served the same amount of time as a Senator as Obama. She's been cool under much fire, which is what she would need to be as our President. Put it this way...would you have more confidence in a new head coach who moved up from assistant coach or a guy basically moving up from defensive backs coach? Just explaining her experience...

I don't think First Lady = assistant coach. I think it equals equipment manager...lol.

You are missing the point, Cold. She is used to being in that capacity, in the White House spotlight, in the international view. How would she be the equipment manager when she has worked her way up through her experiences to now be Senator? Who's heard anything of Obama until about a couple of years ago?

here's the thing that makes me care less. only one dem and one repub will be up for election. if you are not in one of the primary states, you have no influence on which dem/repub makes it to the ballot that matters.
i like Obama, Hillary annoys me, and Edwards is probably the safest choice as far as middle Amer is concerned.
it will be interesting to see how this ultimately pans out.

Could you elaborate on that experience that you say has yo leaning towards Hillary? Sure...Hillary has had MAJOR time in the spotlight, in the White House, dealing with delegates, dealing with media types By this argument the best candidate for the job would be White House Press Secretary or Campaign Manager. So then basically she doesn't have more experienceAs long as you overlook that whole crying bit in New HampshireI would have most confidence in hiring the one who was that gave me the best chance to win. How is Hillary polling against McCain right now? How is Obama?

Cool under fire must be defined before you can assert that the "crying bit" is a valid example to debunk what has been said.

I'm about to go to bed - but feel free to provide examples of crying being a part of being cool under fire. I personally can't think of one. Perhaps you (or the rest of the board) can.Cool under fire must be defined before you can assert that the "crying bit" is a valid example to debunk what has been said.

You know what Damie...let me ask you a question? WHY OBAMA? WHY? Do you have ANY concrete facts that would bring anyone to his camp? So far I see people voting for the man because he's black, not so much on the issues he's bringing to the table. I think he's a viable candidate, but at this point no more than Hillary. You're taking the time to break down the CONS to following Hillary, BUT WHAT HAS YOU THINKING YOUR BOY IS SO GREAT? He hasn't said anything that stands out for me, except when he's taken time to attack Hillary's character. If anything, they're BOTH giving John Edwards a platform. I'd like to hear your points of view as to why someone should vote for Obama. I'm all for supporting a brotha in his life's endeavors, but I have to be sold on a PRESIDENTIAL candidate to vote for him/her. Actually, as I clearly pointed out, I'm not behind ANYONE at this point...I merely said I'm leaning towards Hillary based on her experience. If you can't understand the experience that Hillary has had over Obama, I CAIN'T HELP YOU MAYNE!!

Hmmmnnn.............................................................................
Does Hillary really have that much experience over Obama? That's what the critics will and have asked.
I say doesn't matter. What she's done is impressive enough. Also when was the last time anyone has seen the official Job description for president of the United States? I think it's hard to indentify who qualifies the most. It's easier to say who has had more experience with politics and I believe Hillary wins that hands down. Regardless if she's bee good, great or mediocre---she's put in the manhours and she's basically made a name for herself politically.
All this first Lady talk is making me want to vomit. Hillary was no ordinary First Lady. LOL 48 hours ago I thought that was common knowledge, but for some reason I have once again awaken to the Twighlight zone. Never fear Hillary was directly invovled in political matters the entire time Billy was in office and that's more than her predecessors/successor were/is doing except maybe Eleanor(there may be a few more).
What is really important is that Hillary has 35 year experience tipping, dipping and delving into politics. It's something about time and experience that feels so much more secure than random raw talent.
Anyhow, this seems like it can end up as a back and forth circular.....(fill in the blank). I'm not interested in a political goose chase. Politics is about power. The most politically powerful candidate will win despite how much we all sit here hemming and hawing about who is more qualified and who's answer(amongst us) is more legit...etc.

Random thought... I wish we could know who each candidate plans to pick for their running mate. I think that is an important part of the package. It bothers me that we don't know who the VP would be until after the person is designated as the candidate.
